Online Book Awards for Self-Published Authors

The Rules

  • Our awards are open to all English-language books available for sale, including small presses, mid-size independent publishers, university presses, and self-published authors worldwide. Books should have a 2017, 2018, or 2019 copyright date.
  • All books must have an ISBN and be published books. We do not accept e-books at this time.
  • All books registered online and offline must be accompanied by an official entry form (please see entry instructions below).
  • All payments must be in U.S. dollars. Payments can be made via credit card, personal check, cashier's check, or money order.
  • Your entry may apply to as many titles and categories as you'd like. Please select the category, or categories, that best represent your entry. If you are entering the same title in multiple categories, use just one entry form. If there are additional titles to enter, we require separate entry forms for each title.
  • If the judges feel another category is more appropriate, we will switch the category on your behalf.
  • Entries must be postmarked by January 31, 2019.
  • The cost is $75.00 per category.

GENERAL BOOK AWARDS INFORMATION

Privacy: We will never share your information with any third party.

Entries will be evaluated on content, writing quality and overall quality of production.

Our judging panel includes industry experts in specific fields, as well as experts in editing, book selling and publishing.

Books will not be returned and will be donated once the contest is completed and the winners have been announced.

Once we receive your book(s), we will notify you by email. Winners and finalists will be announced by February 28, 2019. They will be notified by email.

AUTHOR ENTRY INSTRUCTIONS

There are three ways you can enter:

1. You can complete the online entry form, and pay by credit card online. If you enter this way, your submission package should include:

  • Your book(s). Please include one book per category entered.
  • Your entry form, which can be printed upon completion of payment. A copy of your entry form will be emailed to you once your order has been submitted online.
  • If you enter more than one title, please include an entry form for each title entered.

2. You can complete the entry form online, and mail your check in with your book(s). If you enter this way, your submission package should include:

  • Your book(s). Please include one book per category entered. 
  • Your entry form, which can be printed upon completion of payment. A copy of your entry form will be emailed to you once your order has been submitted online.
  • If you enter more than one title, please include an entry form for each title entered.
  • Your payment; please make your check payable to Independent Book Awards. The cost is $75.00 per category entered. 

3. You can enter offline by printing your entry form from our site, and mailing it in with your payments and book(s). If you enter this way, your submission package should include:

  • Your book(s). Please mail in one book for each category entered.
  • Your entry form, which you can download and print by going to our home page and clicking on Enter Contest. There is a link available to download and print the application. 
  • If you enter more than one title, please include an entry form for each title entered.  
  • Your check; please make your check payable to Independent Book Awards. The cost is $75.00 per category.
